Home SMS, sending and receiving SMS on a landline phone

If your phone is not enabled for SMS, the message will be read out by a speech synthesizer. First, your phone will ring as usual. When you answer, a voice will tell you that you have received an SMS and that it will be read out. You can choose to listen to the message again by pressing "2" at the end of the call. Having an SMS read out is completely free of charge. The sender's phone number is always read out, so feel free to write it down directly.

If you do not have time to listen to your entire SMS, the message will ring back after an hour, but no more than 8 times until you have the opportunity to listen to the message. If you do not want the message to ring more times, it is therefore important that you listen to the entire message.

If your phone is enabled for SMS, you can read the message directly on the display like a normal cell phone.

Press 1 for name information

If you want to know the name and address of the person who sent the SMS while the call is in progress, you can make a name inquiry by pressing "1" after you hear your message. The name inquiry costs SEK 29 incl. VAT and must be confirmed by pressing "1" once more before the name inquiry is carried out and charged.

If you do not answer

If you don't answer or your phone line is busy, eight call attempts will be made, once per hour. If you still do not answer after the call attempts, the SMS will be deleted.

The dialing attempts are carried out during the following times:

  • Monday-Thursday: 07.00-22.00
  • Friday: 07.00-23.00
  • Saturday: 09.00-23.00
  • Sunday: 09.00-22.00

If you do not want to receive read aloud SMS

If you are a company that does not want to receive read-out SMS, please send an email to kund@genericmobile.se and we will help you further.

If you are a private person and do not want to receive SMS on your landline number from anyone, send an e-mail message with your landline number to nosms@hemsms.se and we will block your phone number for incoming SMS. The SMS sent to you in the future will be deleted. We will not use the phone number you provide in other contexts.

Sending SMS to the fixed network

You send SMS to the fixed network from your mobile phone, an SMS-enabled fixed network phone or from your computer.

From a mobile phone you send SMS to the fixed network in the same way as you send a regular SMS. You can also send SMS to the fixed network with a home phone activated for SMS.

Sending a domestic SMS from an SMS-enabled home phone costs €1.25 per SMS plus the fixed network operator's call charge.

Personalized sender voice

You can record your name or a personalized greeting phrase to introduce the read-out SMS you send.

Your personalized message will start all the read-out SMS you send. It will sound like this: "Hi, you have received a text message from YOUR HEALTH PHRASE. It will now be read to you." After the SMS has been read out, the reading voice will tell you from which number the SMS was sent.

Call 0740-96 00 96 and activate your personal sender now!
  • Create your personalized greeting phrase by calling 0740-96 00 96 with the phone you are sending the SMS.
  • All calls to 0740-96 00 96 cost SEK 6, including VAT, plus the operator's call rate. You pay for each call regardless of whether you change, save or delete your greeting.
  • The activation works even if "hidden number" is selected.

Activate the home phone for SMS

  • Make sure you have an SMS ready home phone.
  • Enter the number 0740 94 00 00 as the message center in your phone.
  • Send an SMS with your home phone to a mobile phone, such as your own, to activate your home phone.
  • Caller ID must be activated in order to receive SMS. Your telecom operator can help you with this.

The name of what is called a "message center" can vary, e.g. "service center", "outgoing SMS number" or "incoming SMS number".
