"We now offer our customer ICA Online direct contact with their customers."
"Having Generic as a partner means that we now offer two of our customers, ICA Online and Indiska, direct contact with their customers on their mobile phones with SMS messages. It is a strength for us to also be able to provide this direct link to the customer's end customer," says Kristofer Browall, Key Account Manager at Cub Business Systems.
Generic's service is called SMS Gateway and is integrated into Cub's CubLink® Pick&Collect application, which helps retailers selling online to efficiently pick orders, either locally in store or at a central warehouse. The partnership between Cub Business Systems and Generic is an example of how the trend in retail towards more and more online sales - even among the large retail chains - and more and more mobile communication, makes cooperation between different IT and telephony service providers both necessary and fruitful.
SMS effectively
- "We see the need for some of our customers, in this case ICA Online and Indiska, to not only use our mobile system for efficient handling of web orders, but also to be able to communicate with customers about, for example, the delivery," says Kristofer Browall at Cub.
- Then SMS is effective. More and more customer contact takes place digitally and SMS is the easiest way to get direct customer contact. Now we can offer that possibility as part of our service.
Instead of building the SMS service themselves, Cub integrated Generic's SMS Gateway service into their application called CubLink® Pick&Collect. This allows Cub's customers to access Generic Mobile's expertise and experience in mobile communications and SMS services.
Focus on what you do best
- It works safely, quickly and efficiently. We also don't need to spend time on further developing the SMS part. When there is a development in the SMS world, we can ride on Generic's expertise," says Kristofer Browall.
Cub Business Systems has a history dating back to the late 1970s. All along, the business idea has been to provide retailers with the latest mobile technology and proprietary systems for efficient mobile logistics management, such as warehousing, inventory and ordering. In the early days, before barcodes, stores used a calculator-like device. Then came the barcodes in the early 80's and eventually handheld computers. Today, it is the mobile platform CubLink® that is used by a large number of Sweden's well-known retail chains - for online sales the specific application Pick&Collect.
More e-commerce = more SMS
-"We have helped Cub to sharpen their offer and increase quality by adding our SMS service to their system," says Susanne Widlund, Key Account Manager at Generic.
- Even in e-commerce, you have to communicate directly with your customers. Then SMS messages are the most effective, Susanne Widlund continues.
From monologue to dialog
Cub Business Systems now wants to develop the SMS option as part of the offer to customers with online sales.
- "We would like to move from monologue from the store or chain store towards the end customer to dialog and are currently sketching such a solution," says Kristofer Browall.
What do you think is particularly good about working with Generic? Apart from the fact that it has given you the technical solution for SMS messaging that you, or rather a couple of your customers, needed?
- That they are so committed and involved in what we deliver - in how their solutions can help us help our customers. In addition, they are always easy to get hold of and arrange personal meetings with.
- I also notice a striving and ambition at Generic that even the end customer should be satisfied, i.e. our customers' customers. This is something that is appreciated," concludes Kristofer Browall.
