Generic has won a public procurement contract from the Swedish Social Insurance Agency for a framework agreement regarding SMS services. The contract involves providing messaging services that meet the very highest standards for data storage, security, and personal data processing. The solution includes SMS notifications via API and a web portal, e-identification, and subscription services. The agreement runs for two years with an option to extend for an additional two years. The framework agreement also allows for orders from other government agencies. The deal is valued at approximately 4.5 MSEK on an annual basis.
“In this procurement process, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency has set the most rigorous and far-reaching requirements for security and data processing that we have seen to date. For example, they have chosen not to approve providers that may be subject to the so-called CLOUD Act. This is the first time we’ve seen this requirement, which is a clear indicator of how government agencies and public authorities will formulate their requirements going forward,” says Jonas Jegerborn, CEO of Generic AB.
The Swedish Social Insurance Agency is one of the country's largest authorities with around 14,000 employees. The Swedish Social Insurance Agency administers the insurance schemes and benefits that make up social insurance in Sweden. Social insurance is society's financial security system. In total, the agency administers almost fifty different types of social insurance benefits.
