When the copper network was shut down, we needed a secure alternative for faxing that could be integrated with existing systems.
Kramfors Municipality is located in the middle of the High Coast, by the sea, in the middle of a natural world heritage site, close to primeval forest and the sparkling waters of the river. This beautiful place has been shaped by the inland ice sheet and the strong people who came in its wake. Today, the municipality has approximately 1,700 employees, with four municipally owned companies and one association. Like other municipalities, its activities are wide-ranging, with everything from waste, water, sewage, child and elderly care to an airport falling within the municipality's responsibility.
At the end of 2025, the copper network was shut down in the municipality, which created problems for businesses that used fax machines. Municipalities, regions, authorities, and private actors have long been waiting for a secure solution such as SDK, but solutions are slow in coming. When the copper network was shut down in the municipality, Kramfors chose to digitize its faxes using Generics DOCS solution, and the service is now used to send and receive faxes electronically in a GDPR-secure manner.
We spoke with Albin Nordeman, business developer at Kramfors Municipality, about their experience with the delivery of the new DOCS service and how it works today.
Albin, how do you think the launch of the service went?
– It worked very well! From the moment we started the implementation, we were up and running on the same day!
Why was Generic chosen as the supplier?
– Primarily because there was already a ready-made integration between Generic and our secure messaging provider, SEFOS. This meant that our employees only had to work in one system (SEFOS), instead of having one system for e-fax and another for secure messaging. The fact that there was already a ready-made integration was decisive in our choice of provider.
Finally, Albin, what is the best thing about Generic?
– I would say simplicity. From the initial contact to a function that is up and running, everything has felt straightforward.
