New rules for text messages to Finland

On May 4, 2026, mobile operators in Finland will implement mandatory registration of SMS senders used to send text messages to Finnish phone numbers. This means that unregistered SMS senders—both names and phone numbers—will be replaced with the sender “Unknown.”

To prevent this from happening, the SMS senders you use must be registered. To make this as easy as possible, we have registered the SMS senders that our customers used during Q1 2026. This means that these SMS senders will continue to function as they did before. In other words, you do not need to take any action at this time.

However, if you plan to start using new SMS sender IDs after May 4, these must be registered so they aren’t replaced with the word “Unknown.” We’re happy to help with the registration process! All you need to do is contact us and let us know which SMS sender ID you want to use, and we’ll take care of the rest!
